Wplus9 April Release: Group Post

Woohoo!  What a great release week it has been!  As always, thank you ever so much to all of you who took the time to stop by and leave me some love.  It means so much to me!  I hope you all are just as in love with April's new, scrumptious goodies as I am!  Before you're off to scoop them up while they're hot, please check out one more creation, boasting A Special Lady.
I started this card by stamping the tulip image, in Moonlight White ink, just left of center, on the Perfect Plum, cardstock, card face, which had its top left corner rounded.
I, then, stamped the "I don't tell you often, enough, everything I am, I owe to you" sentiment, in Real Red ink, on a piece of Whisper White cardstock, which had its top and left edges torn and distressed; adhered it in the bottom right corner of the card face; and anchored it, across its bottom edge, with white-threaded, straight, machine stitches.
The "Mom" sentiment was stamped, in Real Red ink, on a Cricut-cut, Whisper White, cardstock tag; laid, over the card face, in its respective location; and the entire card was, then, spritzed with Perfect Plum and Crumb Cake inks, before the prepped tag was removed to wrap and tie a red, polka dot ribbon, vertically, around the card face, just to the right of the sentiment.  The tag was, then, thread with a safety pin, which was, in turn, pierced through the ribbon, just below the knot, and anchored with dimensionals...
to complete the look.

Welcome to The Play Date Cafe's Challenge #75!
Our sponsor is none other than Wplus9 Design with a prize of a stamp set of the winner's choice, from the Wplus9 Design Online Store, up for grabs.  How fun!
And because we're right in the middle of the Wplus9 Design April Release and lucky enough to have them sponsoring this week's PDCC challenge, I'll be showing off brand new goodies, which will be available this coming April 1st, as well as a couple of oldies but goodies, while the rest of the girls have been blessed to play with other beauties, of their choosing, from the Wplus9 Design Online Store.  Thanks so much, Dawn!  Now, please check my inspiration!
I started this card by silver embossing the scrolled, frame image, from Filigreed Frames, on a piece of speckled, turquoise, patterned paper; edging it, down both its longs sides, with punched strips of Cameo Coral cardstock; machine stitching, with white-threaded, straight stitches, just inside that punched edging; and adhering the entire prepped piece to the Basic Grey, cardstock, card face.
I, then, wrapped a white, seam binding ribbon, vertically, around the center of the card face; tied it, in a dressy bow, near the top edge of the card face; and embellished it with a turquoise, paper rose.
The larger frame was die-cut, using our new, Label Layers I die, which also will be available this coming Friday, from a piece of vellum; adhered behind a piece of Whisper White cardstock, which had been die-cut using the All Occasions Label die and stamped, in Basic Grey ink, with the frame, from All Occasion Tags, as well as, in Tempting Turquoise ink, with the "CONGRATS SO HAPPY FOR YOU" sentiment, which is two stamps from Filigreed Frames, before being adhered, with dimensionals, just below the embellished bow.
A row of clear gemstones, adhered just below the stamped sentiment, completes the look.
That's all, from here, for today; but please be sure to check out all the beautiful creations the rest of my uber talented teammates have cooked up for you.  Plus, you're in for a real treat, because some of my teammates, over at Wplus9 Design, have also joined in this week's color story, using even more, April Release treats.  So, please be sure to watch for their projects in the PDCC inlinkz, and have a terrific Thursday, everyone!  Oh!  And I almost forgot!  You have until Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at 11:59 pm EST, to play along with us.  Can't wait to see what you do!

Wplus9 April Release Sneak Peek: Day 4

Welcome back for Wplus9 Design's April Release Sneak Peek: Day 4!  I've got a sweet, little, birthday card, for you all, today, using one of our newbies, specifically Filigreed Frames, as well as an oldie but a goodie.  Check it out!
I started this card by machine stitching around the edges of the multi-colored, asterisk, patterned paper with red-threaded, straight stitches; adhering it to the Baja Breeze, cardstock, card face; and trimming it, near its base and overhanging to the edges of the card face itself, with a strip of red, polka dot, patterned paper, edged with a punched strip of Real Red cardstock.
I, then, wrapped a kiwi ribbon, around the card face, just above the red, polka dot, patterned paper and tied it, in a bow, near the right edge of the card face.
The sentiment panel was, then, die-cut, from Whisper White cardstock, using our brand new, Label Layers I  die; stamped with the frame, in Baja Breeze ink and the "BEST WISHES TODAY AND ALWAYS" sentiment, which is actually two, separate stamps from this set, in Real Red ink; and adhered, with dimensionals, just to the left of the ribbon bow.  The cupcakes, from From the Kitchen Of, were stamped, in Real Red, Daffodil Delight, and Chocolate Chip inks, on Whisper White cardstock; glittered; hand cut out; and adhered, with dimensionals, in a row, above the stamped sentiment...
to complete the look.
So sorry that the color appears to be a bit off in my photos.  I cannot seem to edit it to true form.  The weather has been really icky and cloudy here for weeks.  I'm guessing that's the problem.  Anyway, thanks so much for peeking in; and please join us, tomorrow, for our final, group post day of the Wplus9 Design April Release... right after you check out what the rest of my teammates have been up to.  Until then, have a fantastic day, ya'll, and thanks ever so much for all your sweet comments during this release!  I treasure each and every one!

Wplus9 April Release Sneak Peek: Day 3

It's another, fantastic, sneak peek day for Wplus9 Design!  I hope that you all are really loving what you see!  I've got my hubby's favorite creation of mine, from this release, for you all, today, using all of our April goodies from A Special Lady to Filigreed Frames and its coordinating die.  Check it out!
I started this card by die-cutting the frame from Very Vanilla cardstock; distressing the edges of it, as well as a larger, rectangular piece of Very Vanilla cardstock with Tea Dye and Antique Linen inks; laying the frame in the center of the larger piece; and stamping the tulip image, in Tempting Turquoise and Garden Green inks, over both layers.  I, then, removed the frame to continue stamping the tulips, on the larger piece, in the same inks, which was also framed with turquoise-threaded, straight stitches, before being adhered to the Chocolate Chip, cardstock, card face.
Finally, I stamped the frame, as well as the "THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO" sentiment, in Chocolate Chip ink, on the tulip-stamped die-cut; edged it with a hand-cut piece of Tempting Turquoise cardstock; and adhered it, with dimensionals, back in its originally stamped location...
to complete the look.
Off you go to check out the other girls' creations, but don't forget to come back, tomorrow, for one last sneak peek before the final group post.  Oh!  And remember to leave a comment, over at Dawn's blog, on each sneak peek day of the release, for your chance to win one or both of the fabulous, April release, stamp sets!  Woohoo!  Thanks, as always, for peeking in!

Wplus9 April Release Sneak Peek: Day 2

So good to have you back visiting for Wplus9 Design's April Release Sneak Peek: Day 2!  I've got a layout, boasting more from A Special Lady, for you all, today.
I started this layout by splattering and distressing the edges of the aqua, weave, patterned paper with Ivory White, acrylic paint.
I, then, adhered lots of patterned paper pieces, haphazardly, just above vertical center and machine stitched, with white-threaded, straight stitches, down either of their sides, running over onto the layout base itself.  After adhering pictures, I stamped the tulip image, in Jet Black ink, on a frayed piece of canvas; colored it in with Tempting Turquoise and Garden Green inks; adhered it, slightly at an angle, below the photographs; and embellished it with pewter hardware and a butterfly, Bingo marker.
K... Now, I'm giving ya'll an extra sneak peek of a fab, new, Filigreed Frames set, that is also being released this month, but you must come back tomorrow to see lots more!  I die-cut (Yes, I said die-cut, too!  Woohoo!) the frame from red, polka dot, patterned paper; stamped the coordinating, frame image in Basic Black ink; used black alphas to create the "A Day For play" title across its center; and adhered it, with dimensionals, in its respective location.
A computer generated and printed, on Whisper White cardstock, "If I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall.  I would go to more dances.  I would ride more merry-go-rounds.  I would pick more daisies. ~ Nadine Stair" quote, which was adhered with dimensionals...
a red, "TODAY'S DATE IS" label, which also had the May 27, 2010 date written on it in Basic Black ink...
and a couple stamped, in Baja Breeze ink, on Whisper White cardstock, and hand cut photo corners (another sneak peak of tomorrow's stamp set... Shhh!) complete the look.
My inspiration for this layout came from The Color Room's Palette #51: {Sun Room}.
Please don't forget to run check out what all my uber talented teammates have up their sleeves today.  Then, I'll see you all back here tomorrow for another sneak peek.  Until then, have a terrific Tuesday!

Wplus9 April Release Sneak Peek: Day 1

Welcome to another, fantastic, Wplus9 Design Release Sneak Peek week!  Dawn has cooked up two, gorgeous, stamp sets, including A Special Lady and Filigreed Frames, the latter of which has a brand new, coordinating die, for you all, this month.  Without further ado, let's take a look at A Special Lady.
I started this card by die-cutting a large label from Whisper White cardstock; stamping it, in Jet Black ink, with that beautiful, daffodil image; water coloring it with Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, and Bordering Blue inks; and adhering it to a larger, green, polka dot, patterned, paper label.
The larger label was die-cut, once again, from that same, green, polka dot, patterned paper; scored across the top approximately 1/2"; and adhered, above the scored portion, to the front panel to create the card base itself.
The "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment was stamped, in Basic Black ink, on a hand-cut strip of Whisper White cardstock; framed with a hand-cut strip of Daffodil Delight cardstock; and adhered, folded, with dimensionals, across the bottom half of the card face...
to complete the look.
Oh, but that's not all.  I've got another goody, for you all, today!
I used that same daffodil image; stamped it, in Wild Honey Distress ink, on a piece of watercolor paper; colored over it with a More Mustard watercolor crayon and around its edges with a Night of Navy watercolor crayon; spritzed it with water; blotted it off with a paper towel; and inked over it with Wild Honey and Faded Jeans Distress Inks.
I, then, trimmed a piece of yellow, lace, patterned paper, down its right side, with a piece of punched, Whisper White cardstock and machine stitched between the two with white-threaded, zig-zag stitches and around the edges of the patterned paper with white-threaded, straight stitches, before adhering it to the Pacific Point, cardstock, card face.
A Harvest Gold, grosgrain ribbon was, then, adhered, folded in half, down the center of the patterned paper, behind the water-colored piece, which was adhered with dimensionals.  A little glitter, added to the centers of the flowers; a stamped, in Faded Jeans ink, "Grandmother" sentiment, which doesn't even begin to touch on all the fabulous, little, lady stamps in this set; and a blue, flower button, laced with white string...
complete the look.
That's all, from me, for today; but the rest of the team has lots of goodies cooked up just for you.  So, please be sure to stop by, and I hope to see you all back here, tomorrow, for day two of our sneak peeks.  Until then, have a wonderful start to your work week, ya'll!  And thanks ever so much for stopping by!

Weekend Snapshots

Gosh!  I cannot even begin to tell you all what a busy weekend it has been!  Some of the busyness is due, in part, to design work, but the rest is simply because we've had a lot going on.  On Friday night, we took the kiddos to see Disney On Ice: Toy Story 3, and they both LOVED it!
Check out these smiles!
My favorite parts were, of course, a little visit from several of the beloved, Disney characters...
all the aerial elements, which unfortunately were up above many of the lights, so my pictures turned out a bit dark...
these little guys (The skaters actually came out on their knees.  Ouch!)...
and Barbie and Ken's spotlight skate... truly amazing with tons of lifts and flips and turns!
Plus, you cannot tell the story without Zurg...
Andy...
Woody...
or Jessie.  So much fun!
Saturday morning, we woke up to French Breakfast Puffs courtesy of The Pioneer Woman.  Yum-O!
French Breakfast Puffs
3 cups Flour
3 teaspoons Baking Powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoons Ground Nutmeg
1 cup Sugar
2/3 cups Shortening
2 whole Eggs
1 cup Milk
1-1/2 cup Sugar
3 teaspoons Cinnamon
2 sticks Butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Lightly grease 12 muffin cups.  In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.  Set aside.  In a different bowl, cream together 1 cup sugar and shortening.  Then, add eggs and mix again.  Add flour mixture and milk alternately to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition.  Fill prepared muffin cups 2/3 full.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden.  In a bowl, melt 2 sticks butter.  In a separate bowl, combine remaining sugar and cinnamon.  Dip baked muffins in butter, coating thoroughly.  Then, coat with cinnamon-sugar mixture.

Then, we were off to basketball and lunch with my Aunt Cindy, Uncle Rick, and Grandpa.
My Grandpa had this gorgeous, family Bible that was given to him by the funeral home when my Great Auntie Myrt passed away, and he wanted to give it to ME!  Oh, my gracious!  The thought still brings me to tears.  Plus, it's such a BEAUTIFUL Bible!
My kiddos were in awe of the gorgeous illustrations.  Thank you just doesn't seem like enough, Grandpa!
Finally, after teaching Sunday school this morning, we finished our grocery shopping, got a little lunch, and went on a hunt, to no avail, for the April issue of CARDS Magazine.  I have my very first, card publication in this issue (Woohoo!), and I just cannot get my hands on one fast enough!  Plus, the sweet Rose informed me that my card is on p. 91.  Eeek!  How exciting!  Thanks, Rose!
Oh!  AND we're ending the weekend with yet another, steady stream of snow.  This stuff just doesn't want to leave us!
I'll be back, in just a bit, with the first of four days of sneak peeks of Wplus9 Design's April Release.  Until then, thanks so much for checking in; and have a wonderful week, ya'll!
